Films and videos are a great way to add variety to your research materials. This service provides access to streaming films from across the disciplines. FoD contains classic and informative films in the fields of business, medicine, humanities, career and technical studies. There are currently 9,000 full-length videos and over 100,000 video clips available. This includes primary source videos and archival footage from historic events.
John Tyler and the VCCS provide access to audio and visual materials through a service called OverDrive Media Console. OverDrive offers three multimedia collections, videos, audiobooks, and music. OverDrive is available as free software to install to a computer or download the app version through the App Store or Play Store.
American History in video is a new resource specifically geared toward historic research. This service provides streaming access to historic newsreels, archival footage, and substantive documentaries. This collection contains over 5,000 titles available and is mobile-friendly for smartphone and tablet users.
Kanopy is a demand-driven film service offering thousands of full-length films and documentaries on various subjects. Subjects include art, business, education, global studies, language, health, media, science, social sciences, and instructional films. Films viewed by four or more users will trigger the Tyler libraries to purchase the film for a one-year, streaming license. Contact the library for more information on this demand-driven resource.
