Library Services Information

The Tyler Libraries is currently closed to the public, including students and staff. Library services will be available remotely until future notice.  Please continue to check the college’s website on the COVID-19 changes to college services and operations.

Need help from the library?  Chat with us now! Make an appointment to fit your needs!  Whatever is best for you!  The Tyler Libraries are available for appointments Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Use the Ask-a-Librarian Chat service to speak with someone immediately with the button below. The Tyler Libraries are available for direct messaging and video conferencing through this chat service from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.  Outside of these times, the responding librarian may be from another VCCS college or academic institution.  These librarians have access to the Tyler Libraries’ collections and will refer questions to the Tyler librarians for follow-up if needed.

Contactless Loans

Tyler Libraries books can now be requested online for contactless pick-up!  Please visit the Library Space blog for information and instructions on contactless loans.

Technology Loans

During the COVID-19 closures, the Tyler Libraries will be offering loan for technology devices. The libraries offer the following devices for loan:

  • Laptops and Chromebooks
  • Calculators
  • Webcameras
  • Loan periods vary based on the type of device, availability of devices, and class schedule.  Placing a request does not guarantee a loan for the requested device(s).  The Tyler Libraries will honor all requests within the technology/device capabilities and supply.

    If requested during the business week, you will receive a reply from the Tyler Libraries within 48 hours.  The reply will contain information on device loans and availability of the requested device(s).  Pick-up of devices will take place at the Midlothian campus security area in the Administration buildingand the Chester campus security area of the Nicholas Center.  Students will need to make an appointment for pick-up during scheduled hours.     Interlibrary Loan

    Articles can be requested via the library’s online Interlibrary loan form. No physical materials (books or DVDs) can be requested at this time.

    The Tyler Library has created a guide related to the COVID-19 pandemic and changes to library and college services.  Please visit the COVID-19 Guide for information on library and college services, students resources, faculty resources, and other general information to assist the Tyler community. This page will be continuously adding information as it becomes available.

    Due dates during this period will be extended until classes resume on campus. Fines will not accrue until after this time.

    Most library resources and services are available remotely using your myTyler username and password. Students can access resources using the following tools:

    Faculty and Staff

    Remote Library Instruction

    The Tyler Libraries will offer remote library instruction via Zoom.  To contact the library about an instructional session, please continue to use the Request Library Instruction Form, but note that campus location will not be necessary.

    Zoom sessions can be recorded and embedded into Canvas for continued viewing.

    Remote Instructional Support

    The Tyler Libraries are able to provide support for instructors through various methods. Librarians can gather and create a digital platform to host supplemental resources or embed into your Canvas course to connect with your students. Visit the Research Guides for our current guides.
