Most materials transfer between campuses in about 1-2 business days.
When an item is available for pickup, patrons will be emailed through their JTCC student account. If you are a community borrower, you will be contacted via e-mail or phone. Patrons have one week to pick up their materials.
Fines and Fees:
Materials from the academic collection do not accrue fines.
If items are overdue, the library will contact you with a reminder.
If items are overdue for more than 30 days they are considered delinquent.
Patrons will be billed for delinquent or damaged items.
Exceptions: Popular Reading, Child Care Collection, and Reserves.
Fines of $0.25 per day are assessed for each overdue item from the Popular Reading Collection (green spine label), from the Child Care Collection, and from the Reserve Collection.
The Popular Reading Collection (green spine label) has a fine of $0.25 per day per item.
The Child Care Collection has a grace period of five days during which a fine is not collected. If an item is returned after the five-day grace period, the full fine will be charged for those five days and any additional days the item is overdue.
The Reserve collection has a fine of $0.25 per day per item. Some Reserve items are for use only in the library. Some may be checked out for one-day, three-day, or one-week periods.
Every day an item is overdue is counted, including weekends. The maximum fine is $5.00 per item.
Library Cards
If a library card is lost or stolen, the cost of a replacement is:
- $1.00 for the first replacement card
- $5.00 for subsequent replacements
Please inform library staff about lost or stolen cards.

Patron must also pay any fines.

Patrons may be issued a refund for items that they have paid for and are subsequently able to return. Materials must be:
- Undamaged
- Returned within 6 months of the original due date of the material
- Not yet replaced
The replacement fee for lost or damaged Interlibrary Loan material will be determined by the respective lending library.
Unpaid library obligations will prevent students from registering and obtaining grade transcripts. The Commonwealth of Virginia may recover fees from an individual’s state income tax refund.
