Evaluating Sources. When looking at websites for academic research, ask these questions:
- Author: Who wrote it? Is the author identified? Are his/her credentials listed? Can you contact the author?
- Purpose: Why does the site exist? Does it contain opinions or facts? Is the site selling something?
- Timely: How current is the site? When was it last revised? Do the links work? Anything outdated?
- Appearance: How does the site look? Are the design and graphics appropriate? Is the grammar and spelling correct?
